Our beef hearts come to you with lots of love.  From the way we raise our cows (in the pasture and grass fed) to the way we deliver it to your door (full of the best nutrients for your health).  The more you learn about beef heart, the more you will love it too. Beef heart is a muscle like other cuts of steak, but it is more dense with a higher nutrient content and additional protein. Beef heart contains lots of essential amino acids, zinc, selenium and phosphorus. It has more than double the elastin and collagen than other cuts of meat and a highly concentrated source of coenzyme Q10, also known as CoQ10. In addition to this, MayoClinic.com suggests choosing grass-fed beef (like Miller’s Biodiversity Farm beef) rather than grain-fed beef because it may have higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids. One of our favorite beef heart recipes is also the easiest recipe ever.  It’s what we like to call “set it and forget it”.  Beef Heart Slow Cooker RecipeINGREDIENTS 1 beef heart (approximately 1 pound) 1/4 t. pepper 1/2 t. salt 1/4 t. garlic powder 1/2 t. dried oregano 1/2 an onion, slicedINSTRUCTIONS1. Prepare beef heart by trimming fat, and dicing into one inch cubes. How much time you want to take to devein is up to you. We find that once the meat is cooked, the veins are pretty much indistinguishable, so we don’t like to waste much time on this part.2. Toss into slow cooker, and sprinkle with pepper, salt, garlic powder, and oregano. Stir to coat beef cubes.3. Top with slices onions.4. Cook on high for 4-6 hours.5. Serve over steamed rice, or quinoa, or for a more low carb dish, riced cauliflower.6. Enjoy!
